Rustic Slouchie Hat Knitting Pattern
A unisex hat knitted in dk Wensleydale wool that can be worn as a slouchie or beret. Knitted in the round using basic stitches with a cheeky i-cord stalk to finish. Wensleydale is a soft yarn that has the lustre of silk. It is light and warm, has good stitch definition and keeps this oh so cute rare breed sheep munching grass in our fields. STITCHES Cast on, knit, purl, ssk, i-cord, cast off. LEVEL Ideal for beginners. SUGGESTED YARN 2oz (50gms) Double knit (dk), sport weight rare breed Wensleydale, but any dk yarn will work - do a tension square. SIZE Adult. Circumference at brim 52cm (20”) by 18cm (7’) height, not including stalk. But feel free to sell items made using it. Magic Roundabout ReturnsDo any of you out there remember the 70's children's programme The Magic Roundabout? Do you remember Dougal? Don't you think the Wensleydale sheep are the Dougal dog of the sheep world? Apart from being so cute and cuddly, their fleece makes one of the most beautiful yarns I've come across. It's silky, soft and lightweight and holds colour beautifully when dyed. I use hand dyed yarn from Lamington Lass Yarns based in Lewes, UK. She creates a luminous range of colours using acid dyes available from her Etsy shop. You can also get this yarn direct from the Wensleydale Mill here. The Wensleydale is a rare breed sheep, please help keep this gorgeous animal gracing our countryside by using this yarn.
